Town Centres are under increasing pressure from on-line shopping, regional malls, Out of Town retailing and supermarkets. The Portas report has highlighted many issues but has provided only limited solutions. Pressure from alternative channels and competing destinations requires Town Centres to improve without major retail development. This means attracting new retailers, maintaining shopper footfall and ensuring that retail places remain relevant to changing consumer needs.

FSP assesses the unique local factors which affect retailer and shopper performance. FSP combines both experience and insight to provide Town Centres with the best, most realistic strategies to improve the commercial performance of town centres.

Town Centres need to:

  • Understand their shoppers
  • Identify key competition and its attraction
  • Share information with stakeholders
  • Ensure marketing spend is targeted and effective
  • Persuade target retailers of the profit opportunity
  • Understand retailer performance

FSP has worked with Town Centres to understand the key issues and develop a focused, inclusive plan of action. Contact FSP to find out more.

  • Manchester City Council worked with FSP to understand the City Centre's shopper audience and how we can attract more shoppers to Manchester. The depth of understanding has helped inform our marketing, regeneration and growth strategies for the City Centre. Their consultative approach got to the heart of the issues and helped facilitate partnership working for all stakeholders.

  • The FSP research helped our understanding of the Park’s shoppers and provided information that assisted our discussions with target retailers. The bespoke reports provide key benchmark statistics and quantify the profit opportunities to retailers. They also help illustrate to landlords the scope for future growth and can formulate part of an asset management strategy.

  • FSP information and face-to-face presentations have been instrumental in getting retailers to consider schemes which they would not otherwise have done and this has been successfully converted into lettings which would not have happened in a number of instances.

  • FSP is highly regarded in the sector and understands outlet centres from the ground up – just the independent view we needed. FSP’s research gave us confidence in completing the acquisition
